To be a good pool player, you have to think about where the cue ball will end up after your shot. If you want the cue ball to keep rolling after it hits the object ball, you need to hit it to "follow."

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Billiard Lighting
  • Bridges For Pool
  • Cue Stick Chalk
  • Pool Balls
  • Pool Cue Carrying Cases
  • Pool Cues
  • Pool Table Covers
  • Pool Table Horsehair Brushes
  • Pool Tables
  • Pool Triangles
  1. Step 1

Concentrate on the shot you are making. If you don't make this shot, it won't matter where the ball ends up.

  2. Step 2

Aim to strike the cue ball above dead center. The higher you hit on the cue ball, the more it will follow after striking the object ball.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful you don't follow your shot right into the pocket and scratch.
  • Hitting too high on the cue ball may cause you to make a poor shot.

on 3/2/2006 Make sure the butt of the cue is as parallel to the floor as possible, a follow shot that strokes into the table will not roll as straight.
