Play a game called "World Cup" to teach attacking skills in a fun environment.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Divide your players into groups of four. Make sure players with similar abilities are teamed up accordingly.

  2. Step 2

Divide a large field into smaller fields, about 30 yards in both length and width.

  3. Step 3

Have one player be the goalkeeper and each of the other three assume a country name and become that country's World Cup soccer team.

  4. Step 4

Have the goalkeeper kick the ball and the other three players compete to see who can get the ball and score on the keeper. The first "country" to score three goals wins the World Cup.

Tips & Warnings
  • Teach players how to recognize an opportunity to score.
  • Focus on creating opportunities to score by dribbling.
  • Teach players how to make room to maneuver in various ways. Show them that there are other ways to play than just to beat the defender.
  • Soccer is a physically demanding activity that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper equipment and training before undertaking this activity.
