I wouldn't advise on having a clenched fist when throwing this punch, you must keep your palm loose until an inch before contact. If you want to put your weight behind it more, then you can drag up your back foot mildly. Always keep you chin tucked, as the most important thing other than scoring is stopping your opponent landing on you. It is possible to go rounds without taking a single punch if you practice at shadow and covering yourself with your other glove while throwing every punch.
