The node stitch is usually written in patterns in "sets of stitches." As the work progresses, small "nodes," or bumps, appear equally spaced on both sides of the piece.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make three first halves of the double stitch.

  2. Step 2

Make three second halves of the double stitch. (This is now one "set of stitches.")

  3. Step 3

Repeat the process: three first halves, three second halves, three first halves, three second halves, and so on.

  4. Step 4

Notice that the stitches begin to twist. A node will occur at each point of a twist.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instructions will read: 10[3a-3b]. This tells you to repeat the series of stitches inside the brackets (a = first half of double stitch 3 times, followed by b = second half of double stitch 3 times) 10 times.
