Instructions

  1. Tissue Paper

    • 1

Wrap a soda bottle (glass or plastic), glass jar or any other tall container with paper and ribbon to create a beautiful vase.

    • 2

Center the container on top of a sheet of tissue paper or wrapping paper.

    • 3

Bring the paper up around the container and gather the paper just below its opening. If your container is a bottle or jar, gather the paper around the neck.

    • 4

Hold the paper in place by tying a ribbon around it.

    • 5

Arrange the paper so that it flares slightly at the top.

    • 6

Make sure to use enough paper that the edges of the paper reach just above the mouth of the container. A 25-inch-square piece of paper will give you enough coverage for a 1-liter plastic soda bottle.

    Contrasting Paper

    • 7

Use two sheets of tissue paper in contrasting colors to wrap your container.

    • 8

Place one sheet on your work surface with one edge facing you.

    • 9

Place the other sheet on top of the first with one point facing you.

    • 10

Wrap the bottle as instructed above. One color will "peek out" from behind the other.

    Fabric

    • 11

Use fabric squares instead of paper to wrap your container.

    • 12

Decorate the fabric with stamps or paint if you wish, and then wrap the container as instructed above.

Tips & Warnings

  • Decorate white or colored tissue paper with stamps, acrylic paints, markers or crayons before wrapping your container.

  • Use cloth napkins for the fabric-wrapped vase.

Take a cup and fill it up with a little glue and a little water, just to make the glue a little runny. Then place a piece of tissue paper on a soda bottle and brush the glue on to the tissue. It helps to over lap some tissue as you go around the bottle. It will be a little sticky and messy, but when it's done it looks so pretty.
