While the license plates of its western neighbor (Utah) claims the "Best Snow on Earth," Colorado can argue otherwise. Champagne powder is plentiful and your skiing and entertainment options are numerous as you spend your honeymoon in this Wild West state.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fly into Denver (DIA) and either drive or take a hopper flight to your ultimate destination.

  2. Step 2

Winter, obviously, is the best time to take a ski honeymoon in Colorado. Early season can be chancy on snow, so mid-January through March is the safest time.

  3. Step 3

Skiing and snowboarding are for the athletic and adventuresome, but these days even a klutz can make it down a groomed beginner run on decent equipment.

  4. Step 4

Curl up by a fire, soak in a Jacuzzi, or build a snowman if you're not inclined to hit the slopes.

  5. Step 5

Shop, wine and dine in the ritzy towns of Aspen and Vail.

  6. Step 6

Rub elbows with the cowboys of Steamboat Springs and race their famous ice driving track, or bobsled down Howelsen Hill.

  7. Step 7

Choose between four mountains near the town of Dillan: Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin.

  8. Step 8

Hit the famous back bowls of Vail, one of the west's largest resorts.

  9. Step 9

Reserve your trip through Colorado Resort Net's "Deals of the Week," where you can get a package deal for $150 to $200 per night including lift tickets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dress warmly. It's winter, after all.
  • Demo a pair of new shaped skis that will have you turning in your sleep.
  • Take advantage of preseason and spring season discounted lift tickets if the snow warrants it.
  • Avalanches are a real danger anywhere there are mountains and lots of snow. Ski within the boundaries, or if in the back country, with a guide and proper safety gear.
