  1. Step 1

Book your international flight to Papeete, Tahiti, through Air New Zealand, Air France or Air Tahiti Nui (the three major carriers), and your island transfer to Bora Bora through Air Tahiti (French Polynesia's national airline).

  2. Step 2

Perfect your own combination of adventure and relaxation by choosing to immerse yourself in water and land activities or to lie in the sun with an umbrella cocktail.

  3. Step 3

Plan your trip for any time of year, but know that the rainy season is from October through March.

  4. Step 4

Stay at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort (accessible through the orient-express.com website), with its honeymoon package (approximately $2,300 U.S.) that includes all meals and a choice of hosted island and boat adventures. The resort is located on a private motu (island) in the middle of the lagoon and is architecturally true to the Polynesian motif.

  5. Step 5

Change pace and location with a few days at Le Meridian Bora Bora, a newly opened, modern resort with a lovely beach and private lagoon.

  6. Step 6

Dress casually and comfortably, with the understanding that it can rain and that you'll likely be in the water often. Bring plenty of sunscreen, dark glasses and a good hat. At night the right combination of a collared shirt and long pants can be as elegant as necessary.

  7. Step 7

Study up on French if you want to feel like a local, but don't worry too much, as most everyone speaks decent English.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take a sunset sailing cruise within the calm waters of the lagoon aboard the 50-foot Tara Vana.
  • Snorkel with tiny black tipped reef sharks and manta rays in one of the many coral gardens.
  • Rent a Jeep in Vaitape, and tour the mountainous hillsides filled with exotic fruits and visit the World War II artillery guns mounted on the slopes of Mount Otemanu.
  • Choose your own fresh seafood and meat from the iced bar at Bloody Mary's and enjoy a well-cooked meal with a mai tai.

on 2/20/2007 The following should be included:
1. Long flight from the USA most newly weds do not think about it. 15hrs on a airplane after a party can be problematic.
2. Also, making connecting domestic flights on time.
3. The require time to check-in for international flights now days can be up to 3hrs.

I do recommnend to plan the departure carefully because I went throught it.
