A backpack allows your child to tote assorted ski garb easily, which should make it harder for the child to lose those items.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen
  • Children's Ski Boots
  • Backpacks
  • Children's Ski Jackets
  • Children's Ski Poles
  1. Step 1

Pick a backpack with at least two pockets - a large pocket for items such as boots or a coat and a smaller one for more fragile things such as goggles or a sandwich.

  2. Step 2

Look for a backpack with either a chest strap or a hip strap. Either one will help keep the pack snug to your child's body. This feature allows your child to ski with the backpack if needed.

  3. Step 3

Think about a pack in child-size proportions. If the pack's too big, it will be uncomfortable and your child won't want to use it.

  4. Step 4

Decide on a pack that has adequate buckles and zippers, so that items placed in the pack stay inside.

  5. Step 5

Use a backpack yourself. Your child will want to imitate you.

  6. Step 6

Make sure the pack is large enough to carry all the necessary ski items: goggles, hat, gloves, sunscreen, coat, vest, scarf and so forth.

Tips & Warnings
  • A backpack makes preparing for and leaving the slopes a bit more hassle-free.
  • A school backpack can pull double duty as a ski tote.
  • Skiing is a physically demanding sport that can result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek the proper equipment and training before undertaking this activity.
