More than any other piece of clothing, a good hat will keep your child warm and outside. Plus if it looks cool, they're more likely to wear it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on a wool or synthetic fiber for the hat. Wool can now be manufactured in a non-itchy manner, however a synthetic fiber may prove a better match for your child.

  2. Step 2

Check to see that the hat has a fleece liner around the headband. Fleece is soft, warm and very comfortable.

  3. Step 3

Pick a hat between the $10-20 price category to insure a quality product.

  4. Step 4

Bring your child so you can be positive it fits your child's head.

  5. Step 5

Let your child choose the hat. Saves you the headache of possibly having to return it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Color and/or logo (perhaps a ski resort name) add tremendously to the "cool" factor of a hat.
  • Make sure the hat can at least be hand washed. It's bound to get dirty eventually.
