Easter Sunday is a time for Christians to celebrate Christ's resurrection and is considered the most joyous festival on the Christian calendar. For less traditional ways to observe this spring holiday, see "Celebrate Easter," under Related eHows.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Easter CDs
  • Easter Videos
  • Women's Dress Shoes
  • Clothes
  • Calendars
  • Bible
  • Chocolate Easter Eggs
  • Men's Dress Shoes

Step1
Drape your surroundings in white and gold to symbolize purity, victory and light. Many churches also cover a cross in flowers to symbolize new life.
Step2
Attend your church's Easter vigil, which for many churches begins with a sunrise service and may comprise Bible readings and a baptism for new converts.
Step3
Celebrate the day with the Easter musical or cantata, a popular tradition among Protestant and evangelical churches, in which the Easter celebration is manifested in song.
Step4
Incorporate folk Easter traditions into your religious celebration. For instance, wearing new Easter clothes is said to symbolize a clean start; coloring and hiding Easter eggs for children can represent rebirth and resurrection (or a coming forth from the tomb).

Tips & Warnings

  • Annually, Easter falls on the first Sunday following the ecclesiastical full moon on or after the vernal equinox, taken to be March 21 (thus Easter always falls between March 22 and April 25).

on 11/22/2005 When Easter Sunday comes, we are organizing a traditional Easter Sunday game. Here in the Philippines, various colored eggs are placed in the grass to find. Whoever finds them will have joy and fortune. It is simple, but it will bring excitement and cooperation among the members.

on 11/22/2005 You might want to share that Eastern Orthodox Easter is celebrated one week later than regular Easter; we - mainly Greek, Syrian and Romanian countries - observe Easter only after the Jewish Passover. [Editor's note: Please see "eHow to Celebrate Greek."]

on 11/22/2005 In my home town we make kites and fly them on Easter Monday. They signify the rising of Christ. There will be thousands of kites in the sky and many children and adults participating. A very joyous occasion for one and all.

on 11/22/2005 You explained coloring and hiding Easter eggs for children can represent rebirth and resurrection, to represent the coming forth from the tomb. In Scotland,(where I was born), after coloring our eggs we would go to a park and roll our eggs down a hill!!
