Things You'll Need:

  • Headlight Covers
  1. Step 1

Purchase the headlight cover kits. There are actually two kits to purchase - a kit that consists of a cover and molded clips, and a kit that includes decal patterns.

  2. Step 2

Read the instructions that come with each kit, and gather the following tools and materials: lens cleaner, squeegee, masking tape, soap solution and vinyl decals.

  3. Step 3

Clean the surface of each headlight lens.

  4. Step 4

Put the cover on the car.

  5. Step 5

Hold up the decals on the lens in the desired locations, and mark the locations with tape on the outside of the headlight cover.

  6. Step 6

Remove the cover from the vehicle and spray the lens with the soap solution. This will help to hold the stencil in place.

  7. Step 7

Apply the stencils where you want the light to shine through on the completed cover. Remember that the other areas will be covered with paint. Run the squeegee over the stencils, working outward from the center to remove air pockets.

  8. Step 8

Mask off the face of the lens to prevent overspray from getting on the shield.

  9. Step 9

Clean the lens with glass cleaner and allow it to dry.

  10. Step 10

    Apply the paint.

  11. Step 11

Allow the paint to dry, then use a razor blade or sharp knife to carefully lift off the decals and stencils.

  12. Step 12

Place the lens on the vehicle and clean it with plastic or Plexiglas cleaner.
