How to Navigate in EasyStep in TurboTax

EasyStep in TurboTax for tax year 1999 works best if you progress directly through the interview. However, if you need to skip some areas until you get more information, you can still proceed and go back later.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Use the Continue button to move forward through the program.

  2. Step 2

    Press the Tab or Enter key to move from field to field (Use Shift+Tab to return to the previous field).

  3. Step 3

    Click to select or deselect (put an X in) a box.

  4. Step 4

    Click on underlined blue text to learn more about that topic.

  5. Step 5

    Use the Rewind button (which shows double, left-facing arrowheads) to search for a topic.

  6. Step 6

    After clicking Rewind, click a topic to move to that point in the interview. (Checked topics have been completed.)

  7. Step 7

    Click the Back button to move to the last screen you viewed.

  8. Step 8

    Select Show Tax Form from the View menu to view progress on a form.

  9. Step 9

    Select Go to Forms for a full-screen view of the form in progress. Click Back to Interview in the upper-right corner of the form window to return to EasyStep.

  10. Step 10

    Click a button on the EasyStep progress bar (just below the main menus) to select one of EasyStep's nine general topics.

  11. Step 11

    Select Show My Return from the Forms menu to see a list of started and completed forms and to view individual forms.

  12. Step 12

    Select My Tax Data from the Tools menu to view already entered (or transferred) basic information.

  13. Step 13

    Click the Help button to get help on any topic from any screen.

Tips & Warnings
  • Relevant FAQs (frequently asked questions) appear in the right column sidebar under the Help button throughout EasyStep. Click on a FAQ to find an answer.
  • You can skip portions of your return, if necessary, and return to them later.
