  1. Step 1

Create a card from construction paper or card stock.

  2. Step 2

Select a cover design that you can accent with real jelly beans. A drawing of an Easter egg works well.

  3. Step 3

Sketch out your design with a pencil.

  4. Step 4

Decorate the background first. Use crayons, markers or colored tissue paper glued onto the card to make a background.

  5. Step 5

Leave the area you'll decorate with jelly beans blank.

  6. Step 6

Write your message inside the card and add any decorations such as drawings or stickers.

  7. Step 7

Sort your jelly beans by color.

  8. Step 8

Use craft glue to attach jelly beans to the card. If you are making an Easter egg, try creating zigzags and stripes from different colors of jelly beans. Consider outlining the egg with one color of jelly beans.

  9. Step 9

Allow the glue to dry completely.

  10. Step 10

Make certain that the recipient of the card understands that the jelly beans are for decoration only and are not to eat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using too much glue. It will pool around the jelly beans and look unattractive. Practice gluing one or two jelly beans to scrap paper so you know how much glue to use.
  • Try slicing the jelly beans in half and gluing the flat side to the card for a smoother look.
  • Consider using only a few jelly beans on a card as accents, such as for a bunny's tail, to make a bow on a basket, or to represent small Easter eggs pictured on the card.
