How to Play Pitcher in Softball

Pitching is the most glamorous position - and carries the most pressure. It is also the most important position and the biggest key to winning softball games.

Instructions

      Throw strikes.

      Field your position. On lower levels - through high school - the pitcher can be used as a cutoff player to home base.

      Back up third base and home base.

      Cover home base on wild pitches.

      Field bunts.

    • 6

      Be the leader on the field, verbally as well as in your playing. The pitcher sets the entire tone of the game.

      Seek professional pitching coaches.

      Practice and practice some more. The more you practice, the more strikes you will throw. Pitching is the art of practice.

      Practice scientifically. Learn correct form and style to avoid injury.
