    Rely on word-of-mouth. Speak to family, friends or neighbors to get a good recommendation for a softball league.

    Contact your local parks and recreation department to inquire about softball leagues or programs.

    Check your local newspaper for advertisements on joining softball teams and leagues, or team tryouts.

  4. Step 4

    Contact members of organized leagues through the Internet.

  5. Step 5

    Contact local high school or middle school coaches to find out about programs such as summer leagues.

    Contact the American Softball Association (ASA).

  7. Step 7

    Check out the National Federation Coaches Association (NFCA).

    Look at softball magazines for information on teams or leagues.

    Know what level of play you want. Leagues vary from recreational to highly competitive.

    Find out how coaches treat their players. Do this by observing a practice and/or game, or by speaking to team members.
