How to Create an Easter Basket for a Woman

There's a little bit of child in all of us at holiday time. Help the grownup woman in your life turn back the clock just a little with an Easter basket full of colorful treats.

1. Splurge. Visit a craft gallery or an antique shop and choose a basket she'll want to use long after this Easter has gone.
2. Line the basket with a quilt or lap throw in a pretty, springtime color.
3. Pamper her. Tuck in a gift certificate for a massage and an assortment of soaps, oils and lotions in her favorite scents. In keeping with the holiday spirit, include a box of egg-shaped bath oil beads.
4. Buy some decorative egg-shaped boxes (in porcelain, if you want to continue splurging) and stuff them with pieces of jewelry, small silver picture frames or silk scarves.
5. Choose fillers that reflect her interests. For instance, if she's a gardener, fill some eggs with garden gloves, packets of heirloom seeds and tickets to a garden tour - and perhaps a gift certificate offering to wield a shovel at spring planting time, or to hire someone who will.
6. Tuck in plenty of her favorite Easter candy, an egg-shaped cupcake or two, and a big supply of colorful eggs.

Tips & Warnings

• No law says an Easter basket has to be the traditional oval shape with a big center handle. For the ultimate in long-term usefulness, find a sturdy square or rectangular hamper with a lid. If the recipient is a gardener, use a classic English trug, a graceful wooden basket you can find in catalogs and at many garden shops.
