on 11/22/2005 Craft paints contain ingredients that are not skin-safe nor fda compliant. Use facepaint. It's available in most discount stores this time of year. Play safe.
I'm a professional face painter and teach face painting. One of the most common misconceptions is that non-toxic paint is safe for skin. Not so!

on 11/22/2005 You can use watercolors as face paint for Halloween. You can paint flowers or scales (like a lizard), or you can easily paint astral signs on your face with watercolors. You can go for a polka-dot effect by wetting your finger and dipping it in the paints and then applying the fingerprint to the face area. Often times you can find child-sized watercolor kits. The brush that comes with it will most likely be useless. So either buy a nice brush or use your finger tip. When painting you'll most likely want to start with a light color and then add other colors to your design. No need to coat the entire surface of the face. You want to keep the stuff out of your eyes, especially with small children, but the same would be true for heavy grease paint.

on 11/22/2005 If you're into arts and crafts like myself, chances are that you have some craft paint. If you mix the colors you like with a touch of hand cream and then paint your face, the lotion will keep it from cracking and it will stay moist. It also washes off really quickly with water.

on 1/15/2008 This is so easy and it works really well. For an all-green witch face, for example, simply put enough face makeup to cover your face in the palm of your hand and then slowly mix in food color until you get the color you want!
