Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start Dreamweaver and open the page the movie will be added to.

  2. Step 2

Click in the spot you want the movie to be added.

  3. Step 3

Click the Insert Flash Movie button (which resembles a multicolored burst) or Insert Shockwave Movie button (which resembles a set of multicolored, connected W's) from the Objects palette.

  4. Step 4

Choose the movie file on your hard drive.

  5. Step 5

In the Property Inspector box, set the height and width of the movie.

  6. Step 6

Set any other properties needed. Consult the Dreamweaver online help for detailed information about the available property options.

  7. Step 7

Change any parameters by clicking on Parameters. The parameters are part of the movie and are usually listed in the documentation, if you obtained the movie from an outside source.

  8. Step 8

Save the page when finished and preview it by choosing Preview in Browser from the File menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • In order to view Shockwave or Flash movies, Web browsers need to have the correct player (plug-in) installed. The players can be obtained from Macromedia (see Related Sites) and can be linked to from your Web site.
  • Shockwave and Flash movies are only supported by the latest browsers; earlier browsers and browsers set for text-only will ignore them or receive an error message.
