Rate: (5 Ratings)

Allow users to search your site using the search feature in FrontPage 2000. This feature requires that your server have FrontPage extensions installed; contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for more information.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start FrontPage and open the web the Search Form will be located in.
Step2
Choose New, then Web Page from the File menu. Select Search Form from the listed templates. Click OK.
Step3
Edit the text before and after the Search Form (which is bound - surrounded by a dashed box).
Step4
Double-click on the Search Form to edit its parameters.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add a simple search feature to any page by choosing Component, then Search Form from the Insert menu.
  • FrontPage compiles an index of words used in the web page and based on the hyperlinks. Update the index often by choosing Recalculate Hyperlinks from the Tools menu. This will add new words and delete obsolete words from the index.
  • The index of words used for the Search Form excludes up to 300 commonly used English words, such as "the" and "a."
