You can make a trail appear behind a Macromedia Director image. You might want to do this if you want the still image to appear to be moving. These instructions apply to Macromedia Director 5.0. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Macromedia Director
  1. Step 1

Open or create a Director movie.

  2. Step 2

Open both the Cast and Score windows from the Window menu.

  3. Step 3

Go to the first frame in the Score window where you want your trailed image to appear.

  4. Step 4

Click in the channel (one of the little boxes) in that frame.

  5. Step 5

Drag a Cast Member to the Stage from the Cast window. It will appear as a sprite (a copied image) on the Stage and also as a sprite in the channel of the frame that you selected.

  6. Step 6

Click on that sprite to select it.

  7. Step 7

Locate the Trails check box on the left-hand side of the Score window. Click to put a check beside Trails. The image will now appear on every frame of the movie.

Tips & Warnings
  • To remove a sprite, animate another sprite across those pixels or use a transition.
  • You can also set trails by using Lingo scripting. (Set the trails of sprite WhichSprite to 1.)
