How to Change the Background Color of a Director Movie

By default, the background color of a Director movie is white. However, it is easy to change it to any of the colors that Director displays. These instructions apply to Macromedia Director 5.0. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Macromedia Director

Step1
Open or create a movie in Macromedia Director.
Step2
Click on Movies under the Modify menu, then select Properties. The Properties window appears.
Step3
Select the palette you want to use.
Step4
Choose a color by clicking on the Stage Color box.
Step5
Click in the color that you want to use for the Stage (i.e., the background).
Step6
Click OK. The Stage is now the color you selected.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your system is set to an 8-bit depth, you will be using a color palette of 256 colors.
