You can keep track of Director frames by naming them. By default, each frame is numbered. However, if you are creating a movie that uses many frames, it will be easier to keep track of named frames than numbered frames. These instructions apply to Macromedia Director 5.0. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Macromedia Director
  1. Step 1

Open the Score from the Window menu.

  2. Step 2

Locate the small black triangle that is situated directly above the Frame Channel.

  3. Step 3

Click on the small black triangle and drag it directly to the right until it is over the frame that you want to name. Release. The black triangle is now situated over the frame that is to be named.

  4. Step 4

Type the name of your frame directly to the right of the positioned black triangle. The frame is now named.

  5. Step 5

Repeat for naming additional frames. Note that a black triangle appears at every named frame.

Tips & Warnings
  • When writing a Lingo script, you can now say "go frame frameName" rather than "go frame 5." You would use the name you gave your frame rather than "frameName."
  • It is a good idea to leave empty frames between frames that are being used.
