You can switch one Macromedia Director Cast Member on the Stage or in the Score for another. These instructions apply to Macromedia Director 5.0. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Deleting From the Score

Step 1

Open the Score from the Window menu.
Step 2

Select the cell containing the sprite that you want to exchange.
Step 3

Hit the Delete key. The sprite is removed from the Score but remains in the Cast window.
Step 4

With the Score cell still selected, drag another Cast Member onto the Stage. The new Cast Member replaces the sprite that was just deleted.

Using Lingo Scripting

Step 1

Choose which of the two Cast Members you want to change.
Step 2

Open the Score from the Window menu.
Step 3

Click on the sprite the script should attach to.
Step 4

With the sprite selected, choose Script then New Script from the small script box on the top left-hand side of the Score window.

Tips & Warnings

You can also make Cast Members appear to change by using Lingo scripting. For example, you can make one sprite invisible on the Stage while a certain condition is true, then make that sprite visible when an event occurs.
