A tuzzy muzzy - similar to a nosegay - is a little bouquet that you carry. Here, we make one that hangs from a ribbon and resembles an Easter egg made from flowers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Soak a quarter block of floral foam in a basin of water until it sinks to the bottom.

  2. Step 2

Purchase or gather two dozen small or one dozen large flowers of different varieties. Some good choices include pansy, viola, primrose, stock and calendula.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the block of foam with a 3-foot piece of narrow ribbon as if you were wrapping a Christmas package: Place the block directly onto the ribbon at the midpoint. Bring both ends of the ribbon up and over the block. Cross the ribbon ends so that they head in opposite directions. Wrap both ends of the ribbon back around the other side of the block, then tie the ribbon around the foam.

  4. Step 4

Trim the exposed sides of the block so that it's the approximate shape of an egg.

  5. Step 5

Cut the stems of the flowers very short - 2 to 3 inches maximum.

  6. Step 6

Begin adding flowers at the bottom of the "egg." Use all one color for each row, to create stripes as you work your way up the foam. For example, begin with yellow primrose at the bottom, add a row of purple pansies, then a row of pink primrose followed by a row of yellow pansies. You can add "spots" by placing a contrasting flower in the center of a stripe.

  7. Step 7

Continue adding flowers until you come to the top of the foam egg.

  8. Step 8

Tie a loop in the ribbon so that it forms a handle. Finish the loop with a bow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hang tuzzy muzzies on your neighbors' doorknobs as an Easter surprise.
  • Tuzzy muzzies can be made as large or small as you like, depending on the foam size you choose.
  • Don't tie the ribbon too tightly - it may cut through the floral foam.
