Welcome guests into your home at Easter with a colorful container of blooming flowers. Add Easter eggs, Easter basket grass and some ribbon streamers to create a real holiday treat for the eyes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Easter Basket Grass
  • Plastic Easter Eggs
  • Ribbons
  • Annual Plants
  • Flowerpots
  • Garden Stakes
  • Plastic Foam Eggs
  • Potting Soil
  • Tiny White String Lights
  1. Step 1

Select healthy, disease-free flowering plants that bloom in the spring. Some suggestions are pansy, viola, calendula and stock.

  2. Step 2

Plant a large container (10 to 14 inches in diameter) with the colorful annuals (see "How to Plant in a Container").

  3. Step 3

Place the container outside, near the entry to your home.

  4. Step 4

    Water the newly planted container.

  5. Step 5

Surround the edge of the pot with plastic Easter basket grass. Allow the grass to spill over the rim.

  6. Step 6

Place plastic Easter eggs between the flowers. Prop up the eggs with more plastic grass to keep them from getting lost in the foliage.

  7. Step 7

Pierce a plastic foam egg with the end of a bamboo stake. Repeat with at least three other eggs and stakes.

  8. Step 8

Tie ribbon streamers onto the bamboo stakes just under the foam eggs. The ribbons should be long enough to trail down the sides of the pot. Use several colors of ribbon.

  9. Step 9

Place the prepared bamboo stakes attractively among the plants in the potting soil.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a string of tiny white lights so you and your guests can enjoy the display during the evening hours.
  • Remove Easter trimmings after the holiday and enjoy the container of flowers, or replant the flowers in your garden.
