Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your eye on the "used letter board" (not visible to the TV audience) to see which letters have already been called.

  • Try to maintain your composure if you spin the "Bankrupt" wedge. Keep an upbeat and positive attitude and proceed with the game with the goal of recovering your losses.

As an avid Wheel Watcher, I see many contestants make the SAME silly mistakes many times. The first is guessing letters that have already been called. There is NO reason for this, because there is a used-letter board in the studio. The second mistake is buying OBVIOUS vowels. If the puzzle is "H?DE ?ND GO SEE?," don't waste money buying the A and the I. You KNOW those are there, so either solve or spin for the K. $250 isn't much, but it can make the difference between winning and losing. The last mistake is mispronouncing when you solve. Before reading the puzzle, take a second to compose yourself, and be sure of each word as you say it. There's nothing worse than knowing the answer, and getting it wrong because you say "hide and go peek" because you're nervous.

Pick common letters in the beginning when the puzzle is blank and you have no clues (particularly the letters R, S, T, L, N, and E). Solve the puzzle while the others are spinning. Have a letter ready for when it's your turn so you're not stuck guessing and end up losing your turn.
