For the Atlantic Athletic Conference faithful, this is a spring break meeting place where students can play at the beach during the day and watch March Madness college basketball unfold at night.

Things You'll Need:

  • Hiking Boots
  • Windbreakers
  • Frisbees
  • Fishing Rods
  • Footballs
  • Golf Clubs
  • Footballs
  • Frisbees
  1. Step 1

    Fly into Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte or Virginia Beach and drive to the Cape area.

  2. Step 2

    Bring a good windbreaker for blustery days around the beach.

  3. Step 3

    Rent a house or stay in one of the many beachside hotels. Wherever you stay, make sure it has a TV and VCR in case you get rained on heavily, or bring your own games and imagination.

  4. Step 4

    Surf near the famous Hatteras Lighthouse.

  5. Step 5

    Explore other beach town hot spots like Myrtle Beach and Wrightsville.

  6. Step 6

    Golf at one of the many public courses in the Carolinas.

  7. Step 7

    Play Frisbee golf or football in the sand dunes.

  8. Step 8

    Have a local bartender make you a cocktail while you eat up the sun on an outdoor patio.

Tips & Warnings
  • Beach rental homes are cheap if you split the cost with a group of friends.

on 11/22/2005 I have spent several "College Vacations" in Avon, Nags Head, and other Outer Banks locations. If you are renting a house, which I recommend, try not to exceed the maximum occupancy by too much. They are awfully quick to throw people out. DO NOT drink and drive...PoPo is eager to arrest offenders.
