Bent or warped chain rings won't do much for your shifting performance. If they aren't badly damaged, you should be able to bend them back into shape with an adjustable wrench.

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Clamp your bike into the repair stand.
Step2
Remove the chain from the front chain rings.
Step3
Make sure that the bottom bracket is adjusted properly, and that all the chain ring bolts are tight.
Step4
Spin the cranks to determine where your chain rings are bent.
Step5
Grasp the chain ring with a adjustable wrench.
Step6
Carefully bend it back into shape.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your chain ring is badly bent or damaged, you'll probably need to replace it.
