How to Create a Drop Shadow With PhotoDeluxe

Use PhotoDeluxe 2.0 to make a shadowy effect appear around selected areas of your photograph. The shadow doesn't have to be gray or black - it can be green or pink, too. Experiment and have fun.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Open your photograph in PhotoDeluxe.

  2. Step 2

    Click the Special Effects button, then click on the Fun tab.

  3. Step 3

    Click the Drop Shadow button.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the Select tab.

  5. Step 5

    Click the Smart Select button and select an object in the photograph to place the shadow around.

  6. Step 6

    Click on the Drop Shadow tab, then click the Drop Shadow button.

  7. Step 7

    Indicate your choices for color, opacity and placement of the shadow. Click OK.

  8. Step 8

    Click on the Soften tab, then click the Soften button. Adjust the radius and softness of the shadow if desired. Click OK.

  9. Step 9

    Click on the Done tab.

  10. Step 10

    Save your file if you're satisfied with the shadow.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can create a drop shadow manually using the Advanced button.
  • PhotoDeluxe creates a new layer for your drop shadow. This new layer will increase the byte size of your photograph. (See "How to Work With Layers in PhotoDeluxe," under Related eHows, for more information.)
