How to Heel-to-Heel Turn on In-Line Skates

Put your heels together and your wheels in line for a tight turn.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • In-line Skate Axles
  • In-line Skate Spacers
  • In-line Skate Wheels
  • In-line Skates
  • In-line Skating Gear
  • In-line Skating Helmets
  • In-line Skating Protective Gear Sets
  1. Step 1
     

    Skate forward and begin leaning into a turn. Transfer most of your weight to your outside skate.

  2. Step 2
     

    Lift up your inside skate and turn it to face the opposite direction.

  3. Step 3
     

    Set your inside foot down heel to heel with your other skate and lean slightly forward.

  4. Step 4
     

    Bend your knees and hold your arms out to the side for balance. Your toes should point in opposite directions, with all of your wheels basically in a straight line.

  5. Step 5

    Turn until you are riding in the direction you want to go.

  6. Step 6
     

    Lift up the skate that is pointing backward and set it down pointing forward.

  7. Step 7
     

    Continue skating normally.

Tips & Warnings
  • Really bend your knees and sit into this turn.
  • This turn may feel awkward at first, but once you're comfortable with it, you'll use it all the time. It's perfect for tight turns.
  • Always wear proper pads and a helmet when in-line skating.
