How to Insert an Automatic Drop Cap in QuarkXPress

You can use QuarkXPress 3.3 and 4.0 to create fancy drop caps in your documents to jazz up the layout just like magazines do. Windows instructions may vary slightly.

Instructions

1. Select the Content tool in the toolbar.

2. Single click in the paragraph in which you want the drop cap to appear.

3. Go to the Style menu and select Formats.

4. Select the Drop Caps checkbox.

5. Enter the number of characters in the drop cap (this can be a single character or the number of letters in an entire word).

6. Enter the number of lines (line count) you want the drop cap to span.

7. Click Apply.

8. Move the window out of the way to preview the drop cap.

9. Click OK to finalize the drop cap formatting.

Tips & Warnings

• Select the drop cap and change the color, shade, or font.

• The maximum line count for a drop cap is 16.
