Grouping items, such as a graphic and an article in a newsletter, allows you to reposition the entire piece in one step without displacing its components. These instructions are for QuarkXpress 3.3 and 4.0 for Macintosh; those for Windows may vary slightly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • QuarkXPress (Mac)
  • QuarkXPress (Windows)

Step1
Select the text and graphics you want to group by holding down the Shift key and single-clicking (left-click for Windows) on each object (text, graphics, lines, and so on).
Step2
Go to the Item menu and select Group.
Step3
Position the grouped objects on the page.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can leave these items grouped or select Ungroup in the Item menu. (You must select the grouped objects before you can ungroup them.)
