How to Copy Text and Graphics From One QuarkXPress Document to Another

QuarkXPress 3.3 or 4.0 for Macintosh provides an easy way to copy text and graphics from one QuarkXPress document to another. This is helpful, especially when you need to create multiple documents concerning the same subject. It eliminates the need to re-enter the text in each new document. Windows instructions may vary slightly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • QuarkXPress (Mac)
  • QuarkXPress (Windows)

Step1
Open both QuarkXPress documents.
Step2
Click on the document that contains the text you want to move (this makes the document the active window).
Step3
Go to the page that contains the text you want to move.
Step4
Select the desired text.
Step5
Go to the Edit menu and select Copy.
Step6
Click on the other document, the one you are placing the text in (this makes the other document the active window).
Step7
Go to the place in the document where you want to place the text you are moving.
Step8
Single-click (left-click Windows) in the position where you want to place the text you are moving.
Step9
Go to the Edit menu and select Paste.

Tips & Warnings

  • In newer operating systems, you may simply "drag and drop" text from one document to another. Move your cursor over the highlighted block of text. (If this option is available, the cursor should turn into a pointer rather than the text insert tool.) Click on the text, hold the mouse button and drag it into the other document. Release the mouse.
