How to Apply Background Color to a Box in QuarkXPress

QuarkXPress 3.3 or 4.0 for Macintosh provides terrific features that allow you to apply background color to a text box. This can enhance the appearance of your document. Windows instructions may vary slightly.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • QuarkXPress (Mac)
  • QuarkXPress (Windows)
  1. Step 1

    Use the Pointer tool to select the text box.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the Item menu and select Modify.

  3. Step 3

    Select the background color you want in the Background section of the text box's specifications window.

  4. Step 4

    Select the percentage of the color you want in the Shade section.

  5. Step 5

    Click OK.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a light or pastel color so the background remains background and the text is clear and easy to read.
