Master pages are helpful, especially in larger documents, because they allow you to manage elements common to all the pages (or to several pages) within a document. These common elements include headers, footers, graphics, page numbers and lines (rules), to name a few. You can apply a master page to any QuarkXPress 3.3 or 4.0 document for Macintosh. Windows instructions may vary slightly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • QuarkXPress (Mac)
  • QuarkXPress (Windows)

Step1
Go to the View menu and select Show Document Layout.
Step2
Click on one of the document page icons in the Document Layout window, then Option-click the master page icon.
Step3
Apply a master page to multiple pages by clicking on the first page in the series, then holding down the Shift key and clicking on the last page in the series; Option-click the master page icon to apply the master page to the selected pages.
