Instructions

    • 1

Find a flat section of a trail, with a bit of a track to keep your skis in line.

    • 2

Get into your natural skiing rhythm, with long glides and strong pole plants.

    • 3

Shift most of your weight to the front ski as you kick your back ski underneath.

    • 4

Let the tail of your trailing ski come off the ground when you kick.

    • 5

Keep a constant motion with your legs. The amount of kick from the back leg results simply from momentum, just as it does in running.

    • 6

Try not to "hang out" your back leg in an effort to get the rear ski in the air - this will only waste energy. Building up momentum will make the motion happen naturally.

Tips & Warnings

  • A good track in the snow will make this exercise much easier.

  • Always prepare for winter weather when you go out skiing. Conditions can change quickly while you're out on the trail.
