Step1
Write down what you can afford to pay monthly for clothes, food and other needs. Stick to it.
Step2
Have twins share items like cribs, playpens, clothes and toys when possible.
Step3
Take advantage of wholesale, close-out and thrift store prices. Buy formula, diapers and wipes in bulk, and tear wipes in two.
Step4
Opt for breast-feeding instead of formula.
Step5
Find out if you qualify for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) or Head Start programs.
Step6
Ask for preschool and day care discounts and scholarships.
Step7
Browse thrift stores for expensive items like double strollers and high chairs, or contact your local Mothers of Twins Club and visit its annual rummage sale.
Step8
Let the word out that you love hand-me-downs. Keep them organized.
Step9
Evaluate high-priced items by borrowing from friends before you buy.
Step10
Keep a few special items that each child can call his or her own.

on 11/22/2005 I've found this website on eBay where everything is sold in two's for one shipping price, which makes it easier for twin parents to shop for items that are both identical and fraternal twins (both boy and girl) at your finger tips!

on 11/22/2005 I found it helpful to join the Mothers of Twins Club for advice and bargains. They offer support for multiples and have annual garage sales - all of which feature items for twins. They are located in most states.

on 11/22/2005 You'll save a ton of money because you've got your hands full for 4 years or so and won't be traveling or going out much! Get involved with the Mothers of Multiples Club - you'll be trading and exchanging with each other as the kids outgrow things.
