Step 1
Hold your stick with the puck in front of you.
-
Step 2
Angle the blade of your stick over the puck to help control it and protect it from other players.
-
Step 3
Push the puck back and forth in front of you as you skate, using both sides of your blade, and pushing the puck no further than a foot or two in either direction.
-
Step 4
Roll your wrists.
-
Step 5
Use the tip of your blade.
-
Step 6
Try to develop your skills so that you don't have to look at the puck while you dribble. Then you'll be able to look around for defenders or an open pass.
-
Step 7
Practice dribbling whenever you can.
-
Step 8
Practice turns, stops, starts, and sudden passes and shots from dribbling.
-
Step 9
Keep your stick low at all times. The stick is for the puck only and should never touch another player.

on 1/5/2006 First off, it's stick handling, not dribbling; that's soccer and basketball.
1) When controlling the puck, always (excluding moves, which is more advanced stick handling) keep it about at the heel. If you didn't already know, the heel is about 1/2 to 1 inch from the start of the blade where it attaches to the shaft.
