How to Power Slide Stop on In-Line Skates

A quick way to stop from a high rate of speed, the power slide stop is an essential maneuver for any serious roller hockey player or in-line skater.

Instructions

    • 1

      Lean into a fairly sharp turn from a high speed.

    • 2

      Extend your outside leg, placing it almost on its side, with your wheels still touching the ground.

    • 3

      Turn your inside skate 90 degrees so that your heel is perpendicular to your outside skate.

    • 4

      Shift your weight entirely to your outside skate. This is the key element to the power slide stop.

    • 5

      Slide to a stop, balancing on your inside skate as it rolls along with the slide.

    • 6

      Transfer your weight back to your inside skate to begin skating again in the opposite direction.
