How to Set Yourself a Task in Outlook
Use Outlook 97, 98 or 2000 for your to-do list. Features in the program allow you to record activities related to the task, such as billing information, mileage, time spent and amount of progress.

Click the Tasks icon in the left-hand window.

Click in the box labeled "Click here to add a new Task" to record just the task name and a due date.

Type a name, and then tab to the Due Date column and click the down arrow to select a date from the calendar.

Double-click in the box labeled "Click here to add a new Task" to record a task with more detailed information or record-keeping.

Type a name for the task in the Subject field of the box that appears.

Select a due date, a start date and a status for the task.

Click in the box to the left of Reminder if you wish to be reminded shortly before the task is due.

Link the task to a contact by clicking the Contacts button; choose a category for the task with the Categories button.

Click Private to keep information about the task off the network (if you're on one).

Click the Save and Close button.

Tips & Warnings
Click the Recurrence button (arrows chasing each other in a circle) on the toolbar and fill in the appropriate information if you wish to schedule the task for regular intervals. Use this for tasks such as scheduling an oil change for your car.
You can also open a new task window by pressing the Control, Shift and K keys simultaneously or by selecting New from the File menu and clicking Task.
Type informal start and end dates (e.g. "next week") and Outlook will convert the description to a date.
View tasks by clicking the Tasks or Calendar icons in the left-hand window.
