Anyone can launch a jump on telemark skis - the hard part is the landing. Practice your landing skills by using the following techniques.

Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ski Clothing
  • Telemark Ski Equipment
  1. Step 1

Find a small jump to practice sticking the landings.

  2. Step 2

    Launch a jump.

  3. Step 3

Shuffle one foot backward in the air and bend that knee at a 45-degree angle. This is the same telemark stance used to perform turns.

  4. Step 4

Look at the ground and extend your knees and hips down to meet the snow. This will give your body a chance to absorb the landing correctly.

  5. Step 5

Lean slightly forward in the air so that you land in a forward stance.

  6. Step 6

Land with equal weight on both the lead ski and the back ski.

  7. Step 7

Flex your ankles, knees and hips down into the snow when you land, in the same way that a car's shock absorbers would when hitting a bump.

  8. Step 8

Make a few quick turns to slow down and control your speed after landing.

  9. Step 9

Repeat until you are comfortable landing a jump.

Tips & Warnings
