Find a jump that will get you at least 4 feet in the air. This trick requires a few seconds of air time.
Step2
Ski back from the jump.
Step3
Get some speed going and hit the jump.
Step4
Bend your upper body forward the instant you take off.
Step5
Lock your knees straight and bend at the hips so that your lower body is angled up toward your chest.
Step6
Reach out with both hands and grab the tips of your skis.
Step7
Pull back on both skis so that the tips are facing skyward and the tails point to the ground.
Step8
Hold this position for as long as possible.
Step9
Release your skis before landing. Your skis will snap back into a horizontal position due to the tension supplied by the telemark bindings.
Step10
Land your jump and be prepared for the adulation of nearby spectators.
Tips & Warnings
Try this without poles at first, so they aren't in the way.
Telemark skiing is a physically demanding sport that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.

1. Find a smaller rail for your first attempt that isn't too long or too high off the ground. 2. Come to the rail with plenty of speed to clear the rail. 3. Pop off the lip, turn 90 degrees and focus on the end of the rail. 4. Have the soles of your boots directly under the rail and maintain balance. 5. Keep focused on the end of the rail and slide off it. Do not try jumping off of it. 6. Have fun with it and with more practice you can land it fakie (or backwards).
