Practice using your telemark ski edges with this fun trick.

Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ski Clothing
  • Telemark Ski Equipment
  1. Step 1

Find a slope that's almost flat, with just a slight downward pitch.

  2. Step 2

    Start skiing; build up speed.

  3. Step 3

Drop your left knee and start a telemark turn to the left. See "How to Carve Turns on Telemark Skis," under Related eHows.

  4. Step 4

Turn 180 degrees, so that you face directly up the hill.

  5. Step 5

Shuffle your feet quickly so that your right knee is dropped and your left leg is in front.

  6. Step 6

Keep steering your feet to the left, eventually rotating 360 degrees.

  7. Step 7

Try spinning 360 degrees to the right after you have mastered the left spin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Expect to fall a few times before you master this move.
  • Rotating 360 degrees requires the use of all four ski edges. It's good telemark practice, since you drop both knees in quick succession. This move should also improve your telemark balance.
  • Telemark skiing is a physically demanding sport that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
