Lacquer is among the shiniest finishes you can put on wood. Make sure you use it safely, as it's highly flammable.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Be aware that lacquer fumes can build up quickly in enclosed spaces.

  2. Step 2

Open all of the doors and windows in your work area. But make sure the room doesn't get too cold - lacquers need to be warm to dry properly.

  3. Step 3

Don't mix lacquers with any other chemicals.

  4. Step 4

Read the label before use and follow the manufacturer's warnings and suggestions carefully.

  5. Step 5

Wear a respirator mask if you can't avoid being in the fumes.

  6. Step 6

Dispose of rags and newspapers in a closed metal can. Vapors can easily catch fire.
