Toe clips attached to your pedals will have you pedaling more efficiently and will keep your feet on the pedals at all times.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gather all the materials necessary to install toe clips - four screws, two plastic toe pieces, two nylon straps and a screwdriver.

  2. Step 2

Flip one pedal so that it is horizontal to the ground and facing forward. If your pedals are not symmetrical, place the end with two screw holes forward.

  3. Step 3

Place a plastic toe piece on the pedal so that the screw holes in the pedal and the toe piece line up.

  4. Step 4

Screw the toe piece in place.

  5. Step 5

Thread a nylon strap through the middle of the pedal and the toe piece, then connect the two with the provided clip. Look closely at your pedal - it should have slots for threading the nylon strap.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the process on the other pedal.

  7. Step 7

Tighten the nylon straps to fit your shoes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Toe clips take a little getting used to, so practice pedaling on flat ground before hitting the dirt.

on 4/14/2009 If you have a few lock washers lying around it's a good idea to throw those between the nut and the back of the mounting surface to make sure they don't come loose during aggressive riding and commuting. This is especially important if you are entering and exiting the clips frequently during the ride. Trust me, having a toe clip come loose while riding through traffic is no fun at all.
