Rent a Mountain Bike
Rent a Mountain Bike

You just packed your suitcase for your summer vacation and can't seem to squeeze your bike in. Worry not - just find a bike store where you're heading and rent a mountain bike.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Determine if you'd like toe clips, clipless pedals or regular pedals on your bike. Toe clips and clipless pedals allow you to exert pressure on both the up and down pedal strokes.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the bike you choose has a water bottle cage with a bottle.

  3. Step 3

Check to see that the chain is clean and lubricated.

  4. Step 4

Ride the mountain bike around the parking lot before renting it. Check to see that every gear functions and that the brakes stop you.

  5. Step 5

Listen for any creaking or rubbing noises while testing the bike. If you hear any, ask a store employee to take a look.

  6. Step 6

Grab your helmet and credit card, then take off.

Tips & Warnings
  • A clean mountain bike does not necessarily mean a properly functioning mountain bike. Take a test ride before renting.
  • Mountain biking is a physically demanding sport that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek the proper training and equipment before undertaking this activity.
