Bike lights let you see and be seen at night. Make sure your lights are mounted with maximum visibility.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Front Light

  1. Step 1

Buy a front light at a bike store to be able to see the path you take and to let oncoming traffic see you.

  2. Step 2

Look for an O-ring clamp underneath the light that will unscrew to fit on your handlebars.

  3. Step 3

Place the unscrewed O-ring around your handlebars as close to the middle of the bars as possible. This will keep your light clear of the brake and shifter levers.

  4. Step 4

Tighten the O-ring clamp halfway so that the light remains in place around the handlebars.

  5. Step 5

Turn your light on and adjust it so that the beam shines on the ground about ten feet in front of you.

  6. Step 6

Tighten the O-ring completely so that the light will not move when bumped around.

  7. Rear Light

  8. Step 1

Buy a blinking rear light at a bike store so that upcoming traffic can see you.

  9. Step 2

Unscrew the O-ring clamp on the light and then position the light directly below where the seat tube meets the bike frame.

  10. Step 3

Make sure the light is visible from behind. If it is not visible under the seat tube, place the light on one of the tubes that connects the rear wheel to the frame.

  11. Step 4

Tighten the O-ring clamp once the light is visible from behind.
