How to Make Cashew Chicken in Yellow Bean Sauce

This dish represents a perfect balance of texture, shape, color and flavor - hallmarks of Chinese cuisine. Serve it with rice, and it makes a great meal for two.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oils
  • 2 tbsp. yellow bean sauces
  • 20 cashews
  • 1 diced red pepper
  • 8 oz. chicken breasts - cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp. sesame oils
  • 5 tbsp. water
  • 1 diced celery stalk
  • 1 tsp. sugars

Step1
Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat.
Step2
Add the chicken and fry, stirring, for 1 minute, until the chicken is half-cooked.
Step3
Add the yellow bean sauce and stir to blend.
Step4
Add the red pepper, celery, cashews, sugar and sesame oil and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Step5
Add the water and stir continuously.
Step6
Remove from the heat when the mixture thickens.
Step7
Serve immediately, while it's still hot and steaming.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buy yellow bean sauce at Asian markets or in the Chinese cooking sections found in most supermarkets.
