Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Tie Skirt
Step1
Step in front of your sarong.
Step2
Pull the ends evenly forward and let the fabric sit on your waist. If you have a fringed sarong, let the unfringed end be the one you pull around your waist.
Step3
Tie ends around your waist and secure a knot on your hip.
Wrap Skirt
Step1
Put on your two-piece swimsuit.
Step2
Wrap sarong evenly around your waist, pulling the ends forward. If you have a fringed sarong, let the unfringed end be the one you pull around your waist.
Step3
Tuck one end into your bathing suit bottom at the opposite hip. Secure with a pin if the elastic of your suit or string of your bikini is not enough to hold fabric.
Step4
Bring free end to the other hip, smoothing the fabric flat across your belly. Hold the fabric with one hand and begin to fold a few inches past your belly button.
Step5
Make three pleats starting at four inches in length and decreasing to two inches.
Step6
Fold pleated end into waistband.
Halter Dress
Step1
Pull the ends of the sarong forward so that the material lies flat across your upper back. Keep ends even in length.
Step2
Gather ends and tie once across your bust. Pull gently to secure.
Step3
Bring ends up and over your shoulders.
Step4
Tie behind your neck. Knot once if desired.

on 4/23/2008 I used to love my sarong but I haven't worn it since I got my Towelini. The Towelini is like a sarong in that you can wrap it around yourself in a variety of ways to make dresses and skirts (see www.towelini.com for different styles). But it's made of 100% organic cotton terry cloth so when it's untied it's a large absorbent beach towel. It's so handy at the beach, pool and gym. I take it everywhere.

on 5/20/2007 There is a free video on pareo.com that show 25 different ways one can tie a sarong or pareo, for both men and women.

on 4/25/2007 Another wrap skirt look:
With the sarong behind you, hold the right side out with your right hand; and bring the left corner over to your right hip (pull the fabric tight to the left side of your body - you'll have much more fabric on your right side at this point than on your left). Tie the left corner with a small knot to the right side of the sarong: not to the right corner, but to the middle of the fabric, so that the right side of the fabric hangs down loose on the other side of the knot. Take the right side and wrap around the front, *underneath* the left side, pushing the excess up through the top of the waistband, so that it folds over in front.
The end result is a wrap-skirt look with a triangular flap over the stomach and hip area. This style won't fly open at the side when the wind blows, so you can wear it as a "real" skirt, without shorts or a bathing suit under

on 11/22/2005 1. Pull the ends of the sarong forward so that the material lies flat across your upper back. Keep the ends even in length.
2. Gather the ends criss cross and twist. Pull gently to secure.
3. Bring the ends up and over your shoulders.
4. Tie behind your neck.

on 11/22/2005 Hold the Sarong behind you, evenly under your arms. Criss-cross the ends in front and tie behind your neck. Pin it closed (to feel more secure) or tie on a belt.
