Gee, the musicians are in tuxedos, so does that mean our attire should be formal? Black tie for the season opener and a fundraiser maybe, otherwise it's dressy casual to take in a symphony performance.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Consider the night. A season opener might bring out gowns and tuxes, as might a performance tied to a fundraising event.

  2. Step 2

Attend in nice dressy casual clothes at all other times. Men will impress in slacks, a fine gauge sweater and a sports coat. Women might pair a strappy sandal with a simple black dress or match a nice skirt with a lightweight turtleneck sweater.

  3. Step 3

Remain in your suit if you go straight from work to the performance. Men might remove their tie. Women might switch a conservative blouse for a satin camisole or beaded shell.

  4. Step 4

Leave the jeans and sneakers at home. Wear a simple dress shoe. Stockings are optional, depending on the dress.

  5. Step 5

Dress kids in nice, clean and pressed clothes that are reserved for special occasions.
